DRUMTRAX FOR SESSION DRUMMER INSTRUCTIONS
===========================================================
Macintosh OS 10+
**Drumtrax Librarian is not compatible with MAC OSX 10 +
*******
however, you CAN use documentation and all the MIDI files in the Library.
The Drumtrax Librarian database program was a convenient way to search through the Drumtrax Library. It does not effect the value of the performances and content of the Drumtrax Library. There are text files offering other options to provide the same result.
===========================================================
You can use this text information in place of the Librarian.
Download This File:
Drumtrax_Text.zip
This zip file contains:
Category Sequence Markers
A Category Sequence features 2 measures from every library sequence
within a specific category. Listening to a Category Sequence is a quick
way to skim through an entire category of sequences within the library.
Category Sequences are named with the name extension _CAT. For
example, COU_CAT is a Category Sequence containing 2 measures from every
sequence in the Country category.
"Play these to audition Drumtrax grooves, then open the original MIDI file."
The Library Sequence listing of all the MIDI files in the library.

Explain the "drumtrax.ini" file
The Drumtrax.ini file contains command lines that link the Drumtrax
Librarian
to your MIDI sequencer in Windows to launch Drumtrax_Library MIDI
files.
Example of how it appears:
[General]
LibrarianFilesPath=C:\Drumtrax\Drumtrax_Library\
SequencerPath=C:\WINDOWS\Mplayer.exe
FileSet=sep_trk_type1
Explanation:
LibrarianFilesPath=(drive where Drumtrax is installed)(Drumtrax
folder)(Drumtrax_Library
folder inside Drumtrax folder)
SequencerPath=(drive where MIDI sequencer is installed)(sequencer
folder)(sequencer
program.exe)
FileSet=(type of MIDI files select to use with Librarian/sequencer)
Most sequencers use Type 1 MIDI files; Type 0 is mainly used for
keyboard
workstations.
Try using sep_trk_type1 or 2-trk_type1. This is set in the
Drumtrax
Librarian file menu preferences.
I want to use Drumtrax on another drive OTHER than "C:\drumtrax"
If you install Drumtrax on another drive OTHER than "C:\drumtrax";
you
will need to open a small text file called:
"drumtrax.ini".
Go to Start menu and select FIND.
Select "Files & Folders".
Type in: drumtrax.ini
Click "Find Now".
Double-click on "drumtrax.ini" in the list.
Change the line that begins with "LibrarianFilesPath":
LibrarianFilesPath=C:\drumtrax\drumtrax_library\
•If you installed the Drumtrax Librarian somewhere other than
C:\drumtrax then change the path accordingly. Save and close
"drumtrax.ini" file.
When I open one of your MIDI files it opens it with Windows midi player
Set the Preferences in the Drumtrax Librarian to work with your MIDI
software program!
================================================================
Setting Preferences
By selecting Preferences in the File menu a dialog box will display
two options for setting up the Drumtrax Librarian to work with any
MIDI
sequencing application program that opens Standard MIDI files.
Use Sequencer
Use Sequencer shows application program currently in use with
Drumtrax Library files. To change to another sequencer program
click
the Select button. Now find the sequencing application program
on the
hard disk and click the Open command. This feature allows direct
launching of Drumtrax Library files into any MIDI Sequencing
application
program that will open Standard MIDI files.
